Sergisons in Ireland and beyond

There are a large number of records relating to Sergisons in Ireland; many of which are now categorised as being in Northern Ireland. The following families were initially located in Northern Ireland.

Joseph Sergison (1800-1848), a weaver probably from Tullynish, county Down. Some descendants recorded themselves as Presbyterians and others as Church of Ireland. Only two generations in Northern Ireland have been found. This is the descendant report:

Joseph Sergison (1835-1901) was the son of Samuel and a shoemaker in Belfast. The family largely adhered to the Church of Ireland faith. This is the descendant report:

John Sergison (1800-1870, a shoemaker from county Down who may have fathered seven sons and a daughter. Son Joseph was a soldier in 13th Regiment of Foot and son Richard became a schoolmaster. Some of Richard’s descendants, headed by Herbert Stanley Sergison (1883-1953, moved to the USA. John’s sons Michael, William, John and James were all shoemakers in Northern Ireland. Henry Sergison (born about 1801) in Northern Ireland – his wife Elizabeth and four children, all born in Banbridge, County Down, emigrated to Ontario, Canada in the mid-19th century. Some members of the family subsequently emigrated to USA. This is the descendant report:

John (Joannis) Sergison (1800-1860)who was the head of a Roman Catholic family and probably at least had two sons Charles and Holmes. They both served in the army, Charles  in 57th Regiment of Foot and Holmes in 7th Hussars. Holmes moved to Salford in Lancashire where he was variously recorded as a cabinet maker or joiner. The final family in this section is that of John Sergison (1781-1865). He was a Dublin based jeweller who followed the Roman Catholic faith. His son John remained in Dublin while his son Arthur (1811-1888) moved initially to Liverpool and then onto Middlesex. He spent some time in USA before returning to England where he died in 1888. Two of his sons, Angelo and George, seemed to have remained in the USA. This is the descendant report:
