This family seem to stem initially from an agricultural community and then moved towards Hull where, by the 1900s, a number of were working as fishermen and in the fish trade. The earliest ancestor I’ve been able to trace is Francis Sargison (1720-1777); he lived with his family in Cottingham, where he and his wife Mary (1717-1756) had at least three children.
