Sargaison family tree

John Sargaison was born about 1817 in Armagh, Ireland, now part of Northern Ireland and the family seem to follow the Church of Ireland religion. John was a Colour Sergeant in the 59th Regiment of Foot. He married Ellen Kelliher and together they had at least six children, three of whom were born in Ireland and three in Brentford, Middlesex. He died in 1865 in Brentford, Middlesex. This is the descendant report:

One of Johns’ sons Joseph (born 1851) also joined the army, where he served as a private in the same regiment as his father, 59th Regiment of Foot. At some point Joseph returned to Ireland where he appears in the 1911 census in Glasloch, County Monaghan. His death hasn’t been found.

John and Ellen’s other surviving son, Walter (1865-1937), became a schoolmaster in a National School and lived with his family in Belfast. His four sons all served in the army and one of them, William (1894-1915), died during the Balkan Campaign of World War One.
